Locarno is located on the northern tip of Lake Maggiore in the canton of Ticino.
Locarno is just s short distance from Lugano. Locarno has a population of about 15,000 people however with adjoining areas the population is over 60,000. Italian is the main language spoken in Locarno.
Locarno has a very long history and deep culture extending back to the days of Leonardo da Vinci.
Remnants of middle age castles can still be seen and are a part of this rich history. Locarno sits at the base of the Swiss Alps.
